Definition of California Source Income for retired non resident?

My friend retired in East Cost and moved to California State a few years ago. His income is from SSB, IRA Annuity, dividend and interest (all not from California financial companies). Are they "California Source Income" ? If He move to another State in January 2012, Does he has to make CA tax return ?
