I have unclaimed money but form says ex-spouse MUST also file.....?

I recently did a search on the Unclaimed money website in my state (Michigan), my name was listed on there but as joint with my ex-husband. I filled out the required claim form and sent in all required documentation. I received a letter in the mail showing how much unclaimed money is due to me and my ex-spouse, however, from how it reads it looks like I cannot claim my half without my ex-husband also filling out a claim.( I sent in my divorce documents. ) Does anyone know if this is correct or if there is a way around it or must he also claim his half. I just can't see that I cannot at least get my portion of the unlaimed monies.
